NEBOSH Open Book Exam Guide 2022
NEBOSH has recently made a development considering the COVID-19 impact on the learning process. Therefore NEBOSH has introduced permanent alternative assessments for nearly all of the units that require learners to attend an external location to sit for an assessment. Initially NEBOSH National and International General Certificates – units NG1, IG1, NGC1 and IGC1 assessments are replaced from invigilated paper-based to open-book examination w.e.f from July 1, 2020. This will be a permanent replacement for invigilated paper-based exams and will enable learners to sit their NEBOSH assessment in their own home or another safe and suitable location.
Open book examinations are commonly used and are as valid and reliable as other forms of assessment. Their introduction will ensure NEBOSH General Certificate learners can continue their learning journey without further delay but with the assurance that the quality and standards NEBOSH qualifications are known for are not compromised.
Do not think that an open book examination is an easy alternative; NEBOSH is trusted by organisations around the world to provide relevant and rigorous qualifications and assessments. The questions you’ll be asked will be different to those in our previous closed book examinations. You will be presented with a scenario that describes a realistic workplace and situation. You will then be asked to carry out a series of tasks using evidence presented in the scenario as well as the underpinning knowledge you have gained through your studies and revision.
The first open book examination will take place on 6 August 2020. Learners wishing to sit this examination must register via their Learning Partner. This sitting with be in the English language only. Other languages will be announced at a later date.
