Difference between NEBOSH IGC and NEBOSH NGC.
NEBOSH NGC is useful in the UK but NEBOSH IGC is useful worldwide except in the UK.
But don’t worry if you want to work in the UK just pass one paper and that is NEBOSH NGC 1 and you will get NEBOSH NGC too.
NEBOSH IGC and NEBOSH NGC both have three papers. A few years ago, all three papers were different of NEBOSH IGC and NEBOSH NGC.
The papers included in NEBOSH IGC were:
- NEBOSH IGC1 Managment Of International Health And Safety
- NEBOSH IGC2 Control Of International Workplace Hazards
- NEBOSH IGC3 International Health And Safety Practical Application
And after passing all these three papers one can get NEBOSH IGC that is NEBOSH international general certificate
in occupational health and safety
Similarly
The papers included in NEBOSH NGC were:
- NEBOSH NGC1 Management Of National Health And Safety
- NEBOSH NGC2 Control Of National Workplace Hazards
- NEBOSH NGC3 National Health And Safety Practical Application
And after passing all these three papers one can get NEBOSH IGC that is NEBOSH national general certificate
in occupational health and safety.
But after some time NEBOSH merged some papers of NEBOSH IGC and NEBOSH NGC and now the papers included in NEBOSH IGC are:
- NEBOSH IGC1 Management Of International Health And Safety
- NEBOSH GC2 Control Of Workplace Hazards
- NEBOSH GC3 Health And Safety Practical Application
And after passing all these three papers one can get NEBOSH IGC that is NEBOSH international general certificate
in occupational health and safety

The papers included in NEBOSH NGC are:
- NEBOSH NGC1 Management Of Health And Safety
- NEBOSH GC2 Control Of Workplace Hazards
- NEBOSH GC3 Health And Safety Practical Application
Now if someone possesses NEBOSH IGC and wish to have NEBOSH NGC too then he has to pass only one paper more and that is NEBOSH NGC1.
Here a question strikes in mind that if NEBOSH IGC2 and NGC2 merged, NEBOSH IGC3 andNGC3 merged then why NEBOSH didn’t merge NEBOSH IGC1 and NGC1.
The answer is very simple in NEBOSH NGC1 they also teach UK laws but for international students, NEBOSH understands that they are not obliged by UK laws so international students are required to know about types of laws only instead of UK laws. So UK laws are not being covered in NEBOSH IGC.
Well NEBOSH IGC 2 and NGC2 were about controlling the hazards of the workplace so that is common worldwide.
Similarly, NEBOSH IGC3 and NGC 3 focuses upon presentation and how to prepare management reports so it is also on the same format designed by applying a common approach which can be used anywhere with slight modifications.
Remember NEBOSH conducted survey in 2016 from successful NEBOSH international certificate students and It is
found that over 98% of respondents would recommend the qualification NEBOSH International General Certificate
to others.
NEBOSH IGC Examinations are also being offered in languages other than English.
